Rachael has been a part of the St Leonard's family since 2001 as student, then Ministry Assistant and finally Youth Minister.  She has always had a heart for young people and for Africa. Since 2015 she has been able to combine the two as a missionary in Kampala, the Capital of Uganda.

Rachael is working with two local Christian organisations. Word of Life partners with local schools and churches to share the good news of Jesus with young people, disciple them and equip them to pass on the good news to others.

Rachael’s particular role is to encourage and equip two local churches - All Saints Cathedral Kampala and All Saints Lweza - in the areas of children’s and youth ministry. She is currently working through 1 Timothy with 7 overall children’s leaders responsible for 90 teachers and 1,500 children. She is also working alongside the overall children’s leader to develop a program to grow servant-hearted godly teenagers equipped to serve in the children’s groups.

Living Word Uganda is committed to serving Christian university students by equipping them with faithful Bible handling and teaching skills.  Rachael is involved in various training events throughout Uganda alongside reading the bible 1-1 with a number of female students and leaders.

On Sundays Rachael is helping at a local Church with a 9.30am breakfast and bible club for children living in one of the Kampala slums.  They have recently finished a bible overview and are about to start a ‘Christianity Explored’ course for children. They enjoy singing songs and playing games.

  • Praise God for the Landrover, a source of much fun and put to good use transporting people around Kampala. Pray for the paperwork to be completed ASAP and for safety on the roads.
  • Praise God for the many opportunities to teach and disciple. Pray for faithfulness to God’s word, relevant application, deepening relationships and transformed lives. Pray for people to submit to Jesus as Lord and to be conformed into the likeness of Christ trusting that in all situations He is working for the good of those who love Him.
  • Praise God for a number of girls keen to meet regularly all battling various issues. Pray for wisdom and insight as she seeks to encourage them in their walks with Jesus.
  • Pray for a servant attitude as she interacts with so many people (150 a week!). Pray she would consider each person more significant than herself (Phil 2).
